3 Tips for Planning Your Ideal Wedding Timeline

Hey y’all! We are so excited to be talking with you today about one of our favorite things: wedding day timelines. If you’re in the process of planning your wedding, we know that it can be a stressful time. There is a lot to do, and on top of it all you probably don’t know much of what you’re doing. That’s completely okay! Yes, we’re telling you that it is alright that you don’t know everything you’re doing (because you’ve probably never had to plan a wedding before).

Today we’re narrowing in on your ideal wedding day timeline, because this is one of the areas that almost all brides have trouble with. “How much time should I schedule for getting ready? Do we really need that much time for family formals? Why should I make that much time for pictures?” Have you found you or your fiance asking any of these questions? We asked ourselves these when we were getting married! So, take a deep breath and know you aren’t alone in this struggle. We’re here to help!

Here are 3 tips on how to prepare an effective wedding day timeline:

Allow More Time:

On a wedding day, time moves at lighting speed. You’ve probably heard people say this, and we’re here to testify that it’s so true. On top of that, it’s a day where so many people can have an effect on your timeline. If one groomsmen forgets to set his alarm clock properly, you’re portrait time could be pushed back 10-20 minutes. It’s normally not a huge amount of time, but on your wedding day it can mean so many missed photos. That’s why our first tip is to schedule more time than you think is necessary for each part of the day. It’s not only a safe bet, it is also more realistic. It can also allow for more images if things do stay on schedule! Who doesn’t love that?

Plan Ahead:

Expecting that humans will be humans can help you preemptively save your timeline! We always tell our brides to ask essential people to arrive at least 15 minutes before we need them for pictures. You don’t have to tell them that they’re arriving early. Simply inform them that it’s when we will start taking those pictures. Normally that allows for even the perpetually late people to end up arriving on time! A lot of times we can even end up with extra time to grab more pictures than we expected, which means more memories for you and your loved ones!
