Delegate Responsibility

Hand off the 1,000 things you know you’ll have to do on the day of your wedding. You have a bridal party & family who wants to help but can’t if you don’t let them (even better, hire a wedding planner to handle it all for you!)! So don’t be afraid to have them worry about where your luggage goes, where your lunch is, and all the other things that might come up. Even if it’s just for one day, focus on yourself and on the heart of the day which is your marriage. Let someone else handle the stress!

Set Yourself Up for Peace & Excitement

Plan ahead and be strategic in scheduling your wedding day. Have your hair & makeup start earlier than you think you need to. Set aside time to eat & sit before you’re introduced at your reception. You only get to do this whole wedding day once & you’ll thank yourself later for creating margin where you need it.

Don’t Stress, Be Thankful

Even if something does go wrong, remind yourself of what matters the most. At the end of your wedding day you’ll be married to the love of your life. After that you’ll spend time with your loved ones about to party it up with cake & some delicious food!  Plus, you’ll be about to head out on a honeymoon that will kick off your adventures as a married couple. Sounds amazing right?? It’s so easy to forget this while in the quickness of a wedding day with so many things begging for your attention. When you can sense stress creeping in and trying to steal your joy, just take a moment to recenter yourself and focus on what really matters!

Let It Go

Like Elsa in Frozen, sometimes you’ve just got to learn to give up trying to make everything 100% perfect. A wedding day is comprised of so many moving parts & flawed human beings, so chances are something will go wrong. Hopefully it’s something tiny & insignificant that you won’t even know about. If it is something that starts to cause you stress, just remember to delegate, be thankful for what’s going right, trust your plan, and laugh it off. Time and time again, even if something goes wrong, I’ve always seen it all fall together in the end. It’s all about keeping perspective & controlling only what you can.

While all these tips individually might not be “magic”, I promise they can & will help alleviate some wedding day stressors you won’t want to deal with. The best way is to plan ahead & make an effort to create a fun, joyful wedding day experience for yourself. You want to look back with fondness & not stress! So give them a try and focus on having the most enjoyable and incredible wedding day ever!

Blessings,

Katie
