The morning of your wedding is going to be such a fun & exciting time! You’ll be hanging out with your favorite girls, getting ready for your big day & having a blast. In the midst of it all there is a lot to do and a lot that can happen in those few short hours. As wedding photographers, and a married couple who has been there on their own wedding day, we’ve learned a lot about the morning of. To help make sure you have the best possible time we’ve compiled our top 7 tips we’ve learned so it can help you have a great wedding day!
Plan Extra Time for Hair & Makeup
This part of the day almost always goes longer than anticipated and it can drastically throw off you timeline. We’ve seen it time & time again and it stresses our brides out. We suggest planning to be done at least 45 minutes sooner than you think you really need to be. Better to be early and calm than behind and stressed.
Wear a Robe or Dress Shirt
This will allow you to go from your dress shirt/robe to your dress without messing up your hair or makeup when you change. No one wants to have lip stick smeared or your perfect curls destroyed by your shirt rubbing on your face/hair. Plus, this makes for extra cute getting ready photos if you get your bridesmaids matching outfits!
Break Your Shoes in Before the Day of Your Wedding
No one wants to be walking down the aisle with blisters killing their feet. If you’re buying gorgeous new shoes just for your wedding day break them in beforehand and do yourself a huge favor. Especially if you’re wearing heels! Just make sure you don’t walk in mud or get them too dirty.
Pack an Emergency Kit
There are so many things that can happen the morning of your wedding. Plan ahead and create a small emergency kit with the essentials like tampons, bobby pins, mouth wash, and Tylenol. Even if you don’t end up using it you’ll have a peace of mind knowing it’s there.
Put Your Phone Away
We know its hard not having your phone on you but all it will do is cause you stress. Hand it off to your maid of honor or someone you really trust. Then, if there is something important they can let you know about it or handle it for you. Also, have your fiance do the same!
Eat Something
You’ll hear this 1,000+ times before your wedding day and there’s a good reason for it. It will keep you from being hangry, passing out and will just help you feel better overall. Totally worth it! Just make sure it’s something substantial.
Keep Your Details Together
From your jewelry to your shoes you don’t want to be frantically searching for everything. We suggest putting it all into a bag the night before and having it ready for you the morning of. It will keep you organized & save you loads of time.
We hope these tips help you have the best possible start to your wedding day! We’ve seen them work for our brides time & time again so they’re tried & true 🙂
Blessings,
