Rhett’s sweet momma walked out to help pin on his boutonniere. Her baby was getting married and she was ecstatic to help however she could. As we walked with her to where Addie and Rhett stood, just moments after their first look, she asked, “What did he do when he saw her?” The truth was he had started crying before she even walked up in her white dress. Sheer excitement and anticipation welled up in him with even the thought of seeing his bride. He had been waiting for this day since he met her 6 years ago at camp & fell in love with her at first sight.
As her dad walked her down the aisle Rhett had already had those same joyful emotions hit him and fresh tears fell. They fell from his eyes and the eyes of so many in attendance: Addie’s dad as he officiated, her bridesmaids as they watched, and the list goes on. They were finally becoming husband & wife, one flesh, married.
It was the sweetest day we’ve ever been a part of. What made it all the more special though wasn’t the fact he cried, it was how visibly and fully Rhett loves her. It’s how they light up around one another and how two so very “independent” people (as Addie’s Dad lovingly put it) blend together so well. They knew it from that first week they met, they were made to be together and now they are as husband & wife until God calls them home.
