The morning of your wedding is such a magical, exciting time. Anticipation is overwhelming! You’re thrilled to finally marry your best friend. Everything that morning will feel like its going by lighting quick.
So, how do you make sure you’re ready for it? Plan ahead! We’ve actually come up with a list of our 8 favorite tips just for you!
Getting Ready Outfits
If you’re excited about getting those cute robe photos or having matching pajamas with your girls, get it well in advance. Take time to account for shipping and make sure it will make it in time for your big day. These make for really cute gift the night before or morning of your wedding.
Not into robes? We’ve seen everything from matching rompers to plaid shirts to tank-tops with your bridesmaids initials. Those can be just as cute!
Your Details Bag
We suggest packing your details at least 2 days before your wedding. It will keep you organized & help your photographer. That way its all in one place and you’re not searching for an important detail.
Wondering what to include? Here’s a few ideas: all 3 of your rings, your perfume, shoes, your invitations, decorative ring boxes, and other jewelry to name a few.
Special Dress Touches
You won’t want to forget about your wedding dress! If you’re wanting customized or matching hangers go ahead an order a few weeks out. Custom items can take longer to create and ship.
Another thing to consider is if you have buttons on your dress. Go ahead and get a crochet hook to help speed up the buttoning process. It’s also good to go ahead and bring safety pins and any dress accessories (like a belt) in your dress bag.
Surprises/Presents
Have something special in mind for your wedding day? Want to surprise your groom with a new watch, his favorite scotch, or something else? Do you have bridesmaid & groomsmen gifts planned? Handkerchiefs for your parents? It starts to become a lot of people to gift.
Make a list of all the people you want to get gifts for & what you want to get. This will help you stay on top of it all so you won’t forget it. We also suggest going ahead and getting all of these ready a week before your wedding. Wrapping, writing letters, etc. This way you won’t have to worry about throwing that all together the night before!
Food & Drinks
It’s important that you and your bridal party eat the morning of your wedding. Plan ahead of time to have one of your girls bring your favorite food. Alec always loves it when there is a good Chick-fil-A platter haha!
Heirlooms
If you’re planning on having any special mementos with you make sure to ask for them ahead of time. This could be your grandma’s broach, handkerchief, etc. Go ahead and ask your family to get them at least a week before your wedding. This way you can pack it in your details bag so you won’t forget it.
Your Undergarments
Yep. You definitely don’t want to forget these… Haha! It’s best to get neutral colored (tan) underwear to wear. White & other colors can show through your dress for photos. We also suggest going ahead and taking the underwear you’re planning to wear with you to your fittings.
An Emergency Kit
You never know what you might need the day of your wedding. We say, go ahead and make an emergency kit to be prepared. You can do this by checking out the travel section at Walmart for smaller items. Here’s a few things you might want to include: a sewing kit with safety pins, mouthwash, a razor, Advil/Tylenol, dental floss, a tooth brush & toothpaste, tissues, and Shout wipes.
We hope all these tips will help make the morning of your wedding go smoother! All of these are tips we’ve learned from years of experience as photographers & during our wedding planning.
Blessings,
Katie & Alec
