10 Things We Wish Had Been On Our Registry

Let’s be real, making a registry is serious business. It takes a long time to pick all the things you’ll actually need AND the things you think you’ll want. People want to give you great gifts they know you’ll want which makes it even more important because people are looking for it!!

There are a ton of lists out there of the “best” items or “must have” items for your registry… the problem is most of the things they put on there like crystal drink stirrers that are ridiculous or overpriced. When we made our own registry we got caught up in all the overthinking and missed out on some great items. Now that we’re building our first home we’re getting the chance to do it all over & do it right this time!

So, here’s a few things that were a priority this time around because we wish we’d put them on our wedding registry! We hope this can help you avoid missing out on important choices!

Tools

We aren’t handy people so we didn’t think having more than a hammer & two screwdrivers was important. UGH!! We were so naive, this time around we’ve put a power drill & tool kit at the top of our list. From building furniture to hanging things you’ll eventually need these!

Fire Extinguisher

Make sure you research what type you’ll need. We’ve got one designed to handle kitchen fires just in case something were ever to happen. This is a must have!

USB Port Surge Protectors

This is just so practical. We have one in our living room now and have 2 more on our registry. Being able to have extra outlets & a spot to charge our phones is so convenient. Also, it acts as a surge protector so win, win, win! Here’s the one on our list!

Heater/Fans

Out of all the things on this list this is one we didn’t think about while making our wedding registry. If you’re anything like us you might not agree on the temp for your house! This is a great way to compromise a little and keep everyone else in the house happy.

Disaster Kit

Practical & not something most people think of. Having emergency supplies, especially in Alabama, is a smart idea. You never know what the weather will do so better to be prepared.

Nest Hello Video Doorbell

We wish these had existed when we got married!! This was one of the first things we put on our new registry. Safety plus tech that make us feel even safer than safe?! Yes, please!! Here’s what we’ve got on our registry!

Storage Baskets & Bins

Not only can people stuff these with smaller gifts (hello more presents haha) this is another practical one. We use small storage cubes, baskets & bins throughout our home. Don’t be afraid to load up on these and ask for more than you think you’ll need.

Food Thermometer

Out of all the things we got for our kitchen this is one we wish we had had sooner! It was just something we didn’t think about.

Play Station

Yeah, not so practical haha! Alec just really wishes he had asked for this the first time around. People want to buy you nice things you actually want… not all of them have to be responsible, adult requests haha!

Extra Sheets

Wether you need a new set while washing one or its just time for new sheets, having extra sets comes in handy. We say ask for at least 3 sets for your personal bed alone. You can always ask for more than you think you’ll need.

Setting up a registry is no small feat, so congrats on even getting it done at all! The best part of it all is that even if you get stuff you don’t need or don’t use, you can always return it laster 🙂 Also, just because you put it on there doesn’t mean someone’s obligated to buy it so no hard if you go for a big ask!

Blessings,

Katie
