Right in the middle of our craziest May wedding season & season of life ever we made the decision to add another life to our crazy household. We’ve already got two really, really adorable office assistants: Dixie & Belle! It’s been on Katie’s heart for a while though to get another animal and the timing felt right. We were finally in our new home with plenty of room for growth.
So, without any further ado, meet our new little mascot, Ava May!!
We found her through an Australian Shepherd rescue here in the South. She was abandoned by a back-yard puppy mill breeder who fled from animal control. When they found her, she’s been left on a chain in the snow in Tennessee. They thought she was dead, but thankfully she wasn’t. From there, she spent the next 8 months of her little life with an incredible foster family.
We’re so thankful that they took her in and gave her a chance. She’s been the biggest blessing providing comfort, cuddles, and lots of kisses during our stressful season! If you’ve seen us doing our daily insta-story walks we’ve actually had her with every time!
People always ask us what kind of dog she is. The best guess the rescue could give us was half Australian Shepherd and half Collie. Both can have those Dalmatian like spots! She’s so calm though and very gentle, so she’s a little out of character for those breeds.
Another big thing people have been asking is when we got her. We found her online on Petfinder in April and reached out immediately! From there, we got connected with the rescue and were screened. Then, at the beginning of May, we went to Dothan to meet her to see if she’s be a good fit. Needless to say, we fell in love and brought her home mid-May.
We love our little Ava-roo so much and she’s been the perfect little addition to our family!! Our cats are still adjusting, but we know we’ll get there because we made sure to get a cat friendly dog. Ava loves them and can’t wait for them to play with her!
