Questions to Ask Your Photographer

We believe that wedding photography is an investment, not just for that one day, but for the rest of your time together as man and wife. You will want someone who can capture all those special moments in a way that will display your love in its truest form and that will capture the emotion of the day. That’s a huge responsibility and our philosophy is that you should do it right the first time!

It is important to consider the style and overall feel that you want for your photos. Will you want someone to pose you throughout the day and be hands-on or someone who specializes in candid and un-posed styles? Also, is your photography your top priority or something you see as just another item on the checklist? These are all crucial questions for you to consider before even contacting a potential photographer.

On our end, as the wedding photographers, we want to help you decide if we’re the right fit for one another! It’s important for you to get to know us and have a thorough understanding of what we do and how we do it so you know what you’re investing in. To help make the process easier on you, we’ve compiled the top questions that brides typically ask us!

10 Questions to Ask Your Potential Wedding Photographers | Katie & Alec Photography - Best Birmingham, Alabama Wedding Photographers

1. What is your photography style?

We love bright, airy images that are full of joy and tell the story of your day! We consider ourselves to be all about creating an authentic experience with the coaching our couples need to get those candid, joyful photos they crave!

2. What makes you different from other photographers?
We love this question! Unlike most photography groups or individuals, we are a husband-and-wife team. This means we’ll always be working together and we have two different perspectives to bring to the wedding day. We’re also two very different people with the same style, so you get two sets of skills that come together cohesively.

3. Do you travel?
YES. We love to travel and will go wherever the Lord leads us!

4. What type of equipment do you use and do you have backups?
We shoot with Canon cameras and lenses because we love the remarkable quality they provide! We also have backups available to us with multiple lenses, three camera bodies, and enough flashes and batteries for a small army 🙂

5. Do you have a second shooter?
No, we do not need a second shooter because we are each other’s second shooter! We don’t need to bring in any outside parties because we always work together!

6. How long will it take for you to edit our pictures? Do we get the originals?
Depending on the amount of images we take and editing we typically take 10-12 weeks to edit a wedding with color corrections and minor touch-ups.  We only deliver the edited images to our couples and do not provide originals.

7. How many images do you typically take on a wedding day and how many will we receive?
On any given wedding day we may take up to 1800 images! We take these home and cut them down until we have the best of the best. On average we take around 90-120 images per hour that we will end up using, so as an example most of our 6 hour weddings will end up with around 800-1000 final images.

8. Can we add more time to our wedding experience?
Absolutely! For an additional cost we can always add on more time for your wedding day.

9. Will you stay late if things are running behind?
Our wedding coverage begins with 8 hours and goes up to 14. We start with 8 because it’s what we’ve seen be the least amount of time that still allows us to give our couples the Katie & Alec experience they expect & deserve! If we think your day is going to run long we will always let you know ahead of time when our coverage will be over and give you the option of adding on more time as needed.

10. Do you allow other photographers?

No. We believe that when you hire us you will not need any other professional photographers to shoot your wedding day. Also, we believe that your guests are invited to your wedding day to celebrate you and not work for you! That’s what you’re paying us for!

We hope that these questions are helpful in giving you the right questions to ask potential photographers. If you like what you’re hearing from us we’d love to talk with you over ice cream and see how we can serve you! Simply head here to contact us and get the ball rolling!

Until next time,

Katie
