To be honest with you, every year we write a “Best of Weddings & Engagements” blog. Every single time it gets a little harder to write… Not because it was a tough year, or that things were bad. No, it’s because God has flourished this business of ours in ways we never thought possible. How are we supposed to find the words to celebrate all that in one little post? It feels impossible, and that’s why it is always a struggle to write these posts. This year especially is tough.
This year was actually our best ever for Katie & Alec Photography, which shocked us again & again as we watched it happen. In the span of the last year, Alec & I both lost a grandparent & watched people we love suffer from cancer. We also moved, which was amazing, but it kept us from hustling as hard as we thought we “should have.” Even in the midst of us having to take a step back, God blessed us immensely!!
Alec, Samantha & I are just so thankful for all 2019 has brought us. It was our busiest, most amazing season to date! It also brought us some of the kindest, most joyful couples we have ever met. To say we’re in complete awe of what God has done is a major understatement. Our hearts are truly overwhelmed with joy & thankfulness as we look back at what this year brought.
We traveled to all over Alabama & the surrounding states all the way to Charlotte, North Carolina. There were so many incredible spots we got to shoot including some amazing venues. A few new favorites were Hamilton Place at Pursell Farms, Belle Farm, SpringHouse at Lake Martin, the Anniston Country Club,the gorgeous Florentine Building (a new all-time favorite!!), Long Hollow Gardens in Nashville, Bryant Denny Stadium, Calvary Baptist Church, Shadow Wood Manor, Bridgestreet Gallery & Loft, and more!! We also got to go back to some of our favorite spots including Vulcan Park & Museum, B&A Warehouse, Iron City, Stonebridge Farms, St. Stephen’s Episcopal, Church of the Highlands Chapel, Mathews Manor and more!! We’re so thankful to get to work alongside these amazing vendors!
We also got to experience some major moments in the lives of our couples from the emotional ones to the funny ones. It was seriously so hard to narrow down each incredible wedding day to 1-4 pictures each. But, y’all… it’s finally here!! We somehow managed to narrow down our favorite moments from 2019!

This is probably our favorite photo from 2019 because the story is amazing!! Allie & Christian couldn’t have their pup come for photos. So while we were taking husband-&-wife portraits Allie spotted a guy and his dog. She asked him for a photo and magic happened! He even had a purple leash that matched their wedding colors!
There were a lot of amazing getaway cars this year! How cool were these?!
We’re just so thankful we were a part of so many sweet, incredible memories for our KA couples!
