You know what, we’re 100% feeling the weight of the world right now. Everything we had planned, prayed for, and hope for in 2020 has all shifted in front of our eyes. Weddings are rescheduling, our hearts are breaking for our couples and we’re overwhelmed by the state of the world. While no one planned this, it has a profound effect on our lives. It’s been utterly heartbreaking and they’re aren’t words to truly express our emotions right now. Who else feels us?

In the midst of it all, we’re working hard to do one very important thing: choose hope. Our pastor, Chris Hodges, brought an incredibly timely message about this a couple of weeks ago during an online service. It’s been hard, but it’s a choice we’re choosing to make. So, we wanted to hopefully encourage you and share 5 things we’re thankful for in the midst of this crisis:

  1. Our Animals

This may be the most real of them all, when things have been tough we’ve had our fur babies to comfort us. They bring us endless laughter, go with us on long walks, and have kept us company. We’re so thankful to have them in our lives right now (and always).

2. Our Home

We’re already incredibly thankful for our amazing home. Being quarantined to it has made us even more thankful for it. Compared to the past places we lived this place is a castle! We even celebrated our 1 year anniversary of moving in during all this which was a welcomed celebration.

3. Our Marriage

We’ve said it again and again, we don’t know how we’d get through this without each other. Having a true companion to experience this with is such a blessing. Even with all the chaos its been so nice being together and growing our marriage!

4. Publix

Silly, but it’s true. We’re so thankful for our local Publix and all they have done. They’ve been completely sanitizing every cart by hand before you touch it. Knowing we can be safe going to get basic necessities is amazing. We’re also thankful for the people out there working hard and exposing themselves every day to keep it (and all other essential businesses) open.

5. Church of the Highlands

On a very serious note, we’re so thankful for our amazing church family. In the midst of all this craziness it’s been a huge comfort. Having the online messages has been so amazing in helping us maintain a small feeling of normal. We’ve also been so proud of everything our church family has been doing to love and serve people. They’ve gone above-and-beyond just like the church is designed to.
