Surprise proposals are difficult to pull off. Maintaining a good cover story and remaining unsuspicious is by no means easy. Patrick was intentional and did a phenomenal job getting Jess to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens without tipping her off. He had been coordinating with us for weeks leading up to the proposal and handled all the details carefully. He knew exactly where to walk, even what stone to get down on one knee on before they arrive.
We were hiding behind a large tree and some bushes as we saw them start to walk to the back of the gardens taking in all the beauty. Our hearts were racing because we knew she was in for the surprise of her life! Before she knew it, they were standing under the dreamy white arbor, and Patrick was in front of her, down on one knee. Tears started streaming from her eyes as she realized what was happening, and he asked her to marry him.
For a few minutes after, all she could do was hug him, wipe away tears of joy, and stare at her gorgeous new engagement ring (he seriously killed it with that ring, y’all, just wait until you see it!!). It was so sweet getting to capture such a monumental and emotional moment that will forever mark their lives.
After the proposal, we got to walk around the gardens and get to know them both more. They are so sweet and precious together! We could tell right away that they are a wonderful pair and that they are going to love married life together. Congrats again, Patrick and Jess!!
