Courtney and Katie met years ago in a young professional’s small group. Warm nights were spent in Courtney’s Birmingham apartment, getting to know the wonderful women in the group. That’s where Katie remembers hearing single Courtney talk about one day how she hoped she would be able to get married in a darling white chapel (hint: the Lord heard those dreams, and Howe Farms was the ultimate answer to them). As time went on, Courtney followed her calling to Cincinnati, where she met Alex in another smallgroup.
Not long after, Courtney came to visit her friends and family here in Alabama. As she and Katie sat to share a meal, she shared about Alex and what an incredible man of God he was. She was planning to move to North Carolina to see if the relationship could be something real. There was so much wisdom and intentionality in that decision that you don’t see in most couples. They knew that, above all, they wanted to honor the Lord and take this decision seriously.
It didn’t take long for Courtney and Alex to know that they had found their person. When you get to interact with them together, you can see it written all over their relationship how God ordained it is. Alex is absolutely hilarious, so encouraging, and lights up a room with his joyful personality. Courtney is grounded, wise, and the biggest dreamer we know. Together, they’re all kinds of fun and faithfulness come to life.
On their wedding day, we kept watching them light up and giggle in these precious private moments together. At least a few times, we heard Alex say, “I can’t believe I get to marry the best girl in the whole world.” This was a love worth waiting for, and that day at Howe Farms was a dream come true.
Getting to see someone be loved like that is special on its own; getting to see someone you love to be loved by someone like that is even more special. Courtney and Alex are the result of answered prayers and a faithful God. Their marriage is going to be a powerful one, and we can’t wait to see what God does in their lives going forward!
