Thanks so much for checking out our frequently asked questions. If you have any that aren’t addressed here, we’d love to answer them during a consultation. You can book one here.
1. How would you describe your photography style?
We specialize in capturing timeless, joyful, and romantic moments with natural skin tones. The editing style we use is characterized by a light, bright, and airy aesthetic, which favors timeless colors and avoids heavy filters.
Our approach combines candid storytelling with guided portraits, ensuring your photos reflect the genuine emotions and beauty of your day. You’ll get a blend of formal, candid, and fun images to tell the full story of your wedding day.

2. How far in advance should we book you?
We recommend booking 9–12 months in advance of your wedding date. Popular dates fill up quickly, so reaching out early ensures availability and ample time to plan together. In some cases, couples book as early as 3 months in advance.
“They exude kindness and professionalism… We felt so calm and… had so much fun.” Sarah D.
3. Do you travel for weddings?
Absolutely! While we’re based in Birmingham, Alabama, we frequently capture love stories wherever they unfold. We’ve shot weddings in New Jersey, Texas, Rhode Island, Georgia, and more. Travel fees may apply for locations outside our standard service area.
Working at new venues for us is easy. We simply come early enough on the day of your wedding to walk around, visualize the day, and put a game plan into place. We’re also happy to hop on a call or join you for a venue tour if that’s more your style.

4. How many photos will we receive, and when?
You can expect to receive approximately 800–1,200 edited images, minimum, depending on the length and details of your day. Your full gallery will be delivered within 6–8 weeks after your wedding.
“Our photos were absolutely gorgeous and totally worth the investment.” Sarah D.
5. Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes! Engagement sessions are included in all of our packages. They’re a wonderful way for us to get to know each other and for you to become comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. It’s especially helpful for your groom to feel comfortable and to create a connection with us. We will even travel wherever you’re interested in, from 30A to Charleston!
Beforehand, you will receive our signature style guide to help you plan your outfits and locations and feel confident that you’re prepared.
6. Do you have backup equipment and insurance?
Yes, we come prepared with backup cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment. We also carry full liability insurance to ensure peace of mind for you and your venue.
We are also known for Katie’s massive emergency kit. It’s one way we go above and beyond for our couples! It includes with many essentials, such as extra bobby pins, one-time use toothbrushes, deodorant, antiseptic wipes, and more— just in case you need them.
“The whole process… was perfect and seamless. We will treasure our gorgeous photos forever!” Sarah S.
7. Can we provide a shot list or specific photo requests?
Certainly! We provide a questionnaire to help us understand your priorities and ensure we don’t miss any important moments, including a detailed family list. Family photos are our favorite way to love and serve your family well. Staying organized and efficient ensures that they also have a seamless experience.
8. What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
We’re experienced in adapting to various weather conditions and will work with you to create beautiful images, rain or shine. We also scout indoor and covered locations as backup options. Our team also has umbrellas, tissues, and wash cloths to make rainy days easier.
Our biggest suggestion is to book a venue with a great backup location or to have a tent available.
9. We’re awkward in front of the camera. How do you work with that?
If you’ve ever said, “We’re so awkward in photos,” you’re not alone—and you’re exactly who we love working with most. Not everyone is used to being in front of a camera, and the idea of posing can feel uncomfortable or even intimidating. But here’s the truth: you don’t have to be a model or a natural in front of the lens to get beautiful, genuine photos.
We don’t force stiff poses or overly romantic shots that feel fake. Instead, we guide you into natural movement and real connection. Whether that’s walking hand-in-hand, whispering something silly, or sharing a quiet moment, we create space for you to be yourselves.
We focus on coaching you through it—giving direction that encourages real moments of joy with each other, not just the camera. The result? Images that reflect who you really are together.
“Katie and Alec were everything we could’ve asked for when it came to photographers!… I was so nervous about feeling awkward… but Katie and Alec were wonderful at helping put our minds at ease and allowing us to enjoy every moment and laugh along the way!” Bailey D.
10. How do we book you for our wedding?
To reserve your date, we’ll need a signed contract and a 35% retainer. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your wedding. You can start the booking process by scheduling a consultation here.
11. What makes you different from other photographers?
We don’t just take pretty pictures—we create a calm, joyful experience that helps even the most camera-shy couples feel natural and confident. Our heart is for your marriage, not just your wedding, and that shows in every moment we capture.
“They made us feel so comfortable and captured some of my favorite memories without us even realizing they were taking pictures.”—Harper K.
