Dreams

By: Katie

This month has been a tough month! I’m not gonna lie to you… In the midst of the difficulties though, one of the things keeping us motivated and pushing us forward are our dreams and goals. This morning I read this quote from our amazing Pastor, Chris Hodges, from Church of the Highlands here in Birmingham, and I instantly clicked with it. I mean, we’re made this way by the very One who created us! No wonder when times are tough we dream. When things are normal we dream. When things couldn’t be going better we still dream! We’re made to be dreamers and this isn’t any different when it comes to our businesses.

Alec and I have a list of goals constantly going for our business, in fact, we set monthly goals to let us know we’re still accomplishing things. Every goal we set all works towards our dream of becoming full-timers serving amazing couples as often as we can (of course it supports our other dreams to like traveling, children, etc.). This month we’ve already reached our first of 4 monthly goals and we’re so, so close to the next three we can almost taste it. In fact, I found out we hit number 1, reaching 700 Instagram followers, at 5 a.m. this morning and I did a happy dance around our room and all the way to my day job! I can’t even tell you how motivated I’m feeling today knowing we’ve already hit our first goal halfway through the month.

Goals and dreams are essential to a successful business and a successful life. Dreams give you something to set goals towards and will keep you motivated when things get tough. They give us something bigger to look towards and make us each unique. Maybe some of you have a bucket list? A list of dreams for 2016? If you do that’s awesome, if not it’s never too late to start! Writing them down so you can look back at them is our number one tip for today! There’s nothing quite like committing your dreams to paper so that they become tangible and feel more real. Maybe even give them to a friend or post them on your blog putting them out there for the world to know!

Dreams without a plan though don’t always keep us motivated enough though. By creating manageable goals we can track our progress, find out where we excel vs. where we fall short, and celebrate every little victory along the way. Setting short-term goals helps more than anything because by knowing what your short-term goals are and working diligently on them during short bursts of time we can then effectively set long-term goals that are attainable!

If you don’t have effective goals set I challenge you to take 5-10 minutes today to sit and write out 5 goals you want to achieve within the next 30 days; make sure each one you choose is realistic, specific, and works towards you reaching your dreams. Write them down and stick them somewhere you’ll see them every day, maybe even multiple times a day. Every time you reach a goal cross it off and celebrate with a glass of wine, maybe some chocolate, or something else that makes you happy. Then when those 30 days are up, look back and see what you accomplished, what you need to work on, and see if having written goals doesn’t seriously change your life!

Dreams have a habit of coming true, friends. They really do, so don’t be afraid to dream big! I’d love to hear what dreams you have for your business and the goals you’ve set in the comments below so we can pray with you for your business!

XOXO,

Katie

On top of that, they made sure all of the poses were natural and felt comfortable to us. It was such a fun, relaxed experience with them and my husband!”

"From the engagement session to our wedding day, they captured the details that are important to us.
