Wedding season is always a jam-packed and wild season for wedding photographers. It’s like tax season for accountants. We basically don’t exist for about 3 months while we work and then slowly come back to life. As the season winds down we’ve finally had time this week to sit down and share a few of our own photos from our trip to Washington DC!
If you’re wondering, we were out that way for a destination wedding in Newport, Rhode Island. Since we’d be flying into another state besides RI (it’s so expensive) we chose to fly into Baltimore. We spent a whopping 24 hours there but had a blast! We visited the Spy Museum, ate delicious food, and saw all the sights. The craziest part is we even snuck in photos at the Lincoln Memorial at 5:30 am on the coldest day of the month (35 degrees!).
It was so fun getting to be at the Lincoln Memorial. The best part was, it was virtually empty apart from a few lone joggers which is unheard of. Just wait until you see the photos!
We have to say, getting photos done while we travel has become one of our favorite traditions! It’s such a fun way to commemorate our favorite trips. Plus, we get such unique photos (like our anniversary session in San Francisco at the coolest location EVER)! As a heads up, we’re sharing a lot of photos… We just can’t help ourselves! This blog serves as a time capsule for us for so many of our favorite memories.
The Washington Monument at sunrise was a favorite! Really, the whole area was unreal!
After we left Washington DC, we headed up to RI. On the way, we stopped in New York City for the afternoon and spent our time in Little Italy eating all the delicious food & gelato we could fit in! It was so fun walking through the city and enjoying it for a little while.
After a couple of days spent at the most incredible wedding at the Newport Beach House (our dream venue!!), we made our way to Boston for our flight. There we hit little Italy again for more carbs & cannolis, antiqued, and then walked a couple of miles around downtown to explore. It was the perfect ending to a short but incredible trip!
Out of all the places we visited on this short trip Boston was probably the most fun! The Spring flowers were in bloom and it was so easy to walk around! All of the historic buildings made it feel so special being there amongst so much history. We even got crazy and left our real cameras behind so we could truly enjoy being somewhere new.
Overall, we saw 8 states in 5 days and loved every minute of it! Destination wedding photography isn’t for the faint of heart but man is it worth it. We’re so thankful for our incredible couple, Lauren & Benny, who trusted us to travel to North Carolina for their engagement and Rhode Island for their wedding! Getting to know them throughout this process has been such a blessing to us & we love them so dang much!
We saw everything from the blooming tulips in Boston to the rocky shoreline of Rhode Island and it was truly incredible. It was the perfect trip mid-wedding season.
Now, without further ado, here are the photos from our Washington DC anniversary session!!
The World War I Memorial was so gorgeous! It’s within walking distance of the Lincoln Memorial on the Mall and so close to the Washington Memorial.
A huge shoutout goes to Marie Medina for taking our photos while we were in Washington DC! She was so fun and easy to work with! We’re so thankful she was up for a sunrise session on the one day we were in town.
