Sometimes, a couple gives us more than a small glimpse at their story, and there is naturally no one better to share it than them. So, today, we’re going to let you read Devyn as she writes about how she and Kyle met:
“June 5th, 2020, Kyle was living in York, Alabama, not far from Tuscaloosa, where I was living. Kyle made plans to visit a friend in Tuscaloosa that day, and I was home catching up on schoolwork. That evening, Kyle and I decided to get on Bumble for passive entertainment. Well, thanks to Kyle being in Tuscaloosa and, therefore, within the appropriate distance for us to populate as potential matches, we both swiped right, and it was a match. I messaged him first and asked him what his go-to song at the time was. We exchanged approximately five messages in total before Kyle messaged back, saying that while he did not usually do this, he was going back to York that night and did not know when he would be back in Tuscaloosa, so he wanted to know if I wanted to meet him for a drink that night.
When I made it to the bar, I walked in, ordered a drink, and we got a table. Within the first 3 minutes of talking to each other, we learned we were both premed students wanting to go to medical school. Well, at the time, that was all I thought I needed to know. I had a strict rule that I did not date other pre-meds. I was trying to decide how long to leave without being rude because I knew this wouldn’t work out. Well, Kyle brought his charm that night because within an hour of meeting him, I no longer cared he was pre-med, and I was having a great time despite the fact that I met a man that was talking more than me, and I am always the one that talks the most.
Within the first hour, Kyle asked me to go to Vegas and get married right then and there.
He also asked me if he could take me on a “real” date… the next day. Before we knew it, they called the last call at the bar; somehow, it was already 3 am, and our time was up. We walked out of the bar together, said goodnight, and went our separate ways. Kyle drove an hour home just to turn around and come back to see me the next day and do it all over again. Neither knew he would spend the next six months making that regular drive before moving in with me in Tuscaloosa. I don’t know if I believe in fate, destiny, love at first sight, etc., but I do know there was something more at work in regard to our meeting, and I am so eternally thankful for it!”
