Life Lately

Surprises & Birmingham Adventures

This month has been crazy in so many ways, both good and bad. Two weeks ago was probably the craziest week Alec and I have had since finals week in college. We had five sessions with one of those being a wedding which was so much fun! It was also a lot with editing and still trying to maintain our personal lives. Then, there were some surprises.

Friday morning my little sister called to let me know that her and her boyfriend would be traveling into Birmingham to see us! While it was a great surprise we had a lot on our plates already for us to have to add in cleaning and guest prep to the day. We made it to our engagement session that day and it was amazing! We had a blast with our awesome couple and left the session so excited about the images we got with them.

On top of all of this I had a dear friend, Emily Lauren (whose engagement session you can see here), who was celebrating her last night in Birmingham. In my mind there was no way I could ever make it out with everything I needed to do. Thankfully, Alec is an incredible man and a wonderful husband and offered to stay home and clean while I went out. It meant the world to me that he would sacrifice for me to be able to see my friend one last time. To say it eased my mind and made my night is an understatement!

The following morning my sister came in as we prepped for Ashley & Eric’s B&A Warehouse wedding in Birmingham (which was so, so, so beautiful!). We spent time talking, laughing, and catching up on life while we packed our gear for the day. Then, we surprised my dad with my sister being in town. It was such a special moment to see the two of them together again! It had been over a year since we last saw her so the moment she surprised him he wouldn’t let her go.

We spent the rest of this weekend exploring Birmingham and taking fun pictures. We went to Vulcan, the Birmingham murals, and even Sloss (which is apparently closed on Monday’s).  It was so much fun spending time with my sweet sister and her boyfriend, Zach! We also treated him to his first Chick-fil-a experiences as well as his first Sonic treat! Who knew that where they live in Indiana doesn’t have a Sonic?!

It was sad to watch my sister pack her things and jump in the car to go home. It was so worth the game of catch-up we played after with editing and everything else. I see her so infrequently so it meant the world to have her here in Birmingham, even if it was just for one weekend. It was so special to spend that time with her and to have these memories preserved! 🙂

Blessings,

Katie

On top of that, they made sure all of the poses were natural and felt comfortable to us. It was such a fun, relaxed experience with them and my husband!”

"From the engagement session to our wedding day, they captured the details that are important to us.
