KAP Behind the Scenes

The Perm Days & Other Fun Facts

Yes, you read that right, I did title this post, “The Perm Days & Other Fun Facts.” Why you might ask? Because today I am sharing with you 5 facts you didn’t know about me, Katie, and #2 will explain it all! It will also embarrass me, so if you enjoy a good laugh, keep reading! If you had asked me to share a few of these photos with you even a year ago I would have been far to embarrassed to, but now I can look back and laugh. I guess sometimes we just need some distance in order to be able to enjoy the funny quirks we used to have. Lets just say that if I could, I would definitely go back and share a few tips on navigating being a teenager with high school Katie (get rid of the black eyeliner and lime-green eye shadow… sheeesh).

The rest of these are just a few of the things that make me me! Enjoy:

  1. I used to be a competitive horseback rider. For years I trained and competed in show jumping and dressage! I never got too competitive with it but I did own my own pony, Josie, for nine years! Unfortunately, I don’t get to ride anymore since we live downtown. Horse back riding will always hold a special place in my heart and I would love to start back up one day! To this day if I even see a horse as I am driving I get emotional and excited!

    Isn’t she the cutest?!

  2. Back in high school I had a perm. Hence the title of this post! We all have embarrassing things we did back in High School, and I was definitely no exception! I used to think that these kinky curls were the coolest thing ever! Especially once T-Swift became popular back in the day with her crazy curls and people would tell me I looked like her! Now I look back on my perm days wondering how my mom ever let me out of the house! The Perm Days | Birmingham AL Wedding Photographers
  3. Pride & Prejudice, starring Keira Knightly is my all-time favorite movies! Alec doesn’t quite understand my obsession with it. Between the amazing acting, gorgeous backdrops, and the British accents what isn’t to love about it though? The scene where Mr. Darcy meets Elizabeth in the field as the sun rises over them always makes my heart melt! Who else is with me??The Perm Days | Birmingham AL Wedding Photographers
  4. If there’s an Facebook page with Pugs on it, I probably like it. Doug the Pug is my all-time favorite, because who can resist his cute, squishy face + the adorable outfits they put him in. I could spend hours watching funny videos of him reenacting famous TV show intros (and I do).

    Oh, Doug!

  5. I am constantly in the process of re-watching, Park & Rec, and/or, Gilmore Girls. If I’m not re-watching one then I’m re watching the other. Neither one of these shows ever gets old to me! I will say though, I always skip through Rory’s weird affair with Dean because I never liked him anyways (Logan forever!!). Now that they’ve announced the new, A Year in the life, November 25th can’t get here fast enough!!

On top of that, they made sure all of the poses were natural and felt comfortable to us. It was such a fun, relaxed experience with them and my husband!”
