This has been an amazing year for Katie & Alec Photography! It’s been full of fantastic weddings, fun sessions, and a ton of incredible couples! It’s really been a blast for us and we couldn’t be more thankful. So, before it passes us by too quickly we want to celebrate it with you! As this year comes to a close, we can’t help but look back with joy. In this spirit of thankfulness, we wanted to take some time to share some of our favorite behind-the-scenes photos from this year, including some of our favorite images!
In 2016, 18 of the kindest, most joyful couples allowed us the honor of serving them as their wedding photographers!! We’re still pinching ourselves because we can’t believe that we got to work with such awesome people. Each couple brought something fun and unique to the table and their wedding perfectly reflected who they are together. From the smallest elopement with 8 people present to a Christmas-themed wedding, we saw it all. We had the pleasure of shooting at some venues that we know and love like Vulcan Park & Museum and Loft 212 in Cullman. There were also some amazing new venues that we can’t wait to shoot at again like Stone Bridge Farm, Mathew’s Manor, and Yellowleaf Creek Mill. I even met one of my sweetest friends and a fellow vendor, Christina, with Christina Sloan Events at Becca & Jarret’s wedding at Vulcan!
Another awesome thing about 2016 is how much we have grown in our craft. We invested in newer equipment, education, and even our brand new website! It was so exciting and helped bring our business to an even better place! This year we have really felt like we found our unique style like never before. It’s a great feeling and we’re so excited to see how we continue to grow as professionals in 2017!
Throughout the year we also had the joy of shooting so many gorgeous engagement sessions as well as a few select senior and family sessions. There was even an incredible proposal that we had the opportunity to be a part of! Talk about a reason to celebrate! We are so thankful for every person that we had the chance to work with and all the new friends that we made in the process! This years sessions also allowed us to travel quite a bit, from Maine to Chattanooga to Birmingham. We’re excited to say that next year has us traveling even more (including one at the beach)!

Alec and I have been so blessed by our business in 2016. Not only have we worked with so many amazing people, but we’ve also grown as a married couple. Being married can have its challenges at times, as can running a business. Putting those two things together has proven to be tough at times, but more than anything it’s helped us learn how to work better together. It’s forced us to communicate clearly, to express our feelings and dreams, and learn to compromise in new ways. Ultimately, we love working with each other! There’s just something so fun about being able to go to work with your spouse. We get to go into every wedding together and create something as a team. It’s fun, exciting, and every time we deliver a final gallery we get the chance to celebrate something that we did together. We’ve also found some ways to make it more fun like grabbing a Sonic Slush after every engagement session.
Alec has had a blast this year keeping all of our clients and their friends entertained! Haha, the first picture is him getting a client to laugh. The middle image is of him performing a magic trick for the ring bearers at a wedding. The far right image is just one of my favorites because #skinnyjeans!
Alec and I would love to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you to every sweet couple who has made this year so much fun for us. To every couple, family, and individual who has trusted us with documenting their lives in some way, thank you. For all of the vendors who has helped make each wedding the very best it could be, thank you! Thank you to everyone who has encouraged, supported, and blessed Alec and me this year. Thank you! You all mean the world to us and have made this year the best it could be.
