Bridal prep is a huge part of a wedding day. This is where the mother of the bride, bridesmaids, and bride will all be together getting ready and making sure that everyone is ready to go! Hair and makeup, steaming dresses, and all the details are fun but can also leave room for things to be overlooked.
As your photographers it’s our job to make sure that we capture all these details and also to honor your wedding day schedule! The biggest issue we see that send wedding day schedules are hair/makeup running over. It’s important to make sure you over-schedule your time for hair and makeup and provide more time than suggested. This part of the day almost always runs over and you would rather be safe-than-sorry here!
The second tip is to have all your details ready to go before we get there! This can be a huge time saver and will make sure we capture every special moment. Designating a corner in your getting ready room or having a bag ready with all the smaller details is great. This means having your ring cleaned if you’re like me an just love the look of how shiny it is right after a cleaning! Also, if you can you can have your dress and veil steamed before hand it never hurts!
Items to bring for your wedding day:
Shoes
Dress
Garters
Perfume
All 3 Rings
Veil or Flower Crown
Bridal bouquet & Boutonnieres
Jewelry- most importantly your engagement ring and both wedding bands. It’s important for you as the bride to have them all because you will most likely be the first there and you’re more likely to remember to bring them!
Invitations- including stamps, envelopes, RSVP cards, and any other special details. If you want this can be cute having your calligrapher write a generic name on the front as though its a real invite going out.
Any additional personal details like family heirlooms, handkerchiefs, etc.
A nice hanger
We hope these tips will help keep us on schedule on your wedding day and prevent any stress we can! We want your day to be as memorable and fun as possible! Before you go though, we have one more tip for your wedding prep time! We start each wedding day shooting details for several reasons, but the biggest is because you won’t need them just yet. We’ll even typically use a bridesmaids dress to tie in your wedding colors with your details. During the time we shoot your details it’s important to have your mom (if she is the one helping you get ready) and your maid of honor ready before you step into your dress! This will make sure they look beautiful for important photos of them helping you get ready, and believe me, they’ll be so thankful you did!
Blessings,
Katie
