Our Style
We believe that your photos should be timeless, bright, and full of joy when you look back on the day. We want each photo to evoke memories and make you feel like you’re there again. We believe you should love your wedding photos as much as you do today in 50 years! We love natural-looking skin tones, genuine moments, and ensuring you look and feel your very best. Most people would describe our style as light, bright, and airy wedding photography.
Many people ask during our consultation if we can help them pose. Almost all of our couples come to us saying they will be awkward or uncomfortable in front of the camera. If that’s you, don’t worry. We will coach you through every moment of the day so you can have real moments, all while looking incredible. You will never have to guess where to put your hands!
How We Started & Our Beliefs
Katie & Alec Photography is something we started back in 2014 when we got married. Over 125 weddings later, we stand in awe of all that God has done in our business. We have been fortunate to be based in Birmingham, Alabama, as wedding photographers, but we have also traveled extensively throughout the US, including Rhode Island, California, Georgia, South Carolina, and the Hamptons in New York. (And if you’re wondering, we’re always up for travel!) Every year, we shoot at numerous familiar venues, such as the Sonnet House and Pursell Farms, as well as new ones throughout the state.
We have always wanted to ensure that we provide couples with gorgeous images they’ll treasure forever, but more than anything, to encourage lasting marriages. The goal is for us to take as much pressure and stress off of you as possible, so you can focus on what matters most: your marriage. Please leave your timeline, album design, and any photography-related tasks to us.

For us, this business is more than numbers or accolades. We love our KA couples, as they only take on a select number of weddings each year, allowing us to pour our hearts into them. We want to be the people in your corner, constantly cheering you on and encouraging your marriage. For so many couples, they haven’t heard from people just how amazing it is. They’ve heard phrases like “it’s just so hard” or “don’t do it.” Even jokingly, why do we take those phrases seriously and want you to see the positives in marriage?
For every couple we serve, we pray for, love on, and encourage in every way possible.
About Us
Katie is the bright, bubbly, extroverted one of the two of us. Throughout your wedding day, she’ll make sure you have tissues when you’re crying happy tears, that you stay on time, and that you have everything you need. She has a passion for serving and thrives when she can keep the timeline on schedule. Her heart and compassion are evident in the care she takes with every detail of your wedding day. She loves shooting bridal parties, rings, flowers, and couples more than anything else!
Alec is pure fun and will make sure you feel comfortable. He’s a magician ,too, and bridal parties and little ones love him. His sarcasm and dry humor also make the day more fun. He adores capturing genuine, candid moments and is passionate about the ceremony and reception. You may also see him bust a move on the dance floor or befriending your Grandma! Grandmothers always come to Katie and tell her to lock him down fast! Haha! Thanks, grandma, she did that years ago 😉
Together, we’re a husband-and-wife team. We met at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2011 and have been together ever since. In 2014, we got married and have loved championing other couples as they enter into marriage! It’s a calling we feel in our lives, and it’s the biggest blessing to be able to walk alongside so many incredible couples!
