Life Lately

Life Lately: Off-Season, Ava, & Disney

After building our dream home and settling in, updating people on our life lately hasn’t felt quite as exciting. We’ve settled into a nice rhythm and have loved our home. Of course, with 2020 and all the chaos it brought, we didn’t have time or the desire to update everyone saying it was chaotic. It was a year of chaos for everyone.

Now that we’re into 2021 and we’ve been enjoying the off-season after a busy 2020 we’re finally able to update you!

Off-Season

Last year looked like a whole lot of rescheduled wedding days and then a ton of weddings condensed into the late Summer and Fall. We did 27 weddings between the last week in June and the second week in November (here’s our big post about it). It was wild! We’re so thankful that we were able to still shoot weddings when so many others couldn’t. Last year we’re so thankful that our business flourished in such a wild season. At the end of it all though, we were tired.

Not to mention Katie broke her clavicle at the end of the season. She actually just got the “all-clear” from the Dr. that she’s healed up! We’re so thankful that she’s finally feeling better and is functioning at 100%!

While off-season never starts off as an actual off period thanks to editing, it’s been lovely! Things have finally wound down for us some and we’ve been catching up on everything: time with friends and family, cleaning, yard work, date nights, taxes… you name it! If we couldn’t do it during the busy season we’ve been intentional about doing it now. We’re feeling so rejuvenated and are so thankful for this time to rest and reflect.

Ava’s Heartworms

We announced to our friends and family that our adorable pup Ava, had been diagnosed with heartworms. After over 3 months of medications, hospital stays, and treatment we just wrapped up vet visits for a while! She made it through her treatment like a champ and now only has a follow up to make sure they’re all gone. Thank you for all your prayers and support. It’s crazy how much we love that fluffy little dog!

Our Disney Trip

Back in October when we could see the light at the end of the tunnel that was our busy season, we just had to take a break. So many fun trips we were supposed to take had been rescheduled and travel was limited. We had heard amazing things about Disney and Universal and how they have handled the pandemic, so we took the leap! We spent an entire week enjoying the rides, the food, and the quality time together. We even turned off our email and logged out of social media for the first time in probably 5 years. It was just what we needed!

We have plans to do a full post about it soon because it was genuinely an amazing trip! We’re so thankful we were able to take that time away to focus on our marriage and on rest.

This next time around, we won’t wait so long to update you. It’s just been such a unique year, and we are so glad we finally found time this off-season to get back to these posts. It’s such a joy getting to share our lives with you and to write these. It’s kind of like keeping an online journal of our lives, and it’s so fun to be able to look back on them.

We are also working on some fun home projects adding in cabinets and wainscotting we’ll share soon! Until then, we’re just so thankful for you following along and we can’t wait to share more soon.

Blessings,

Katie & Alec
