Thankful. That would be the word we would choose to describe our 2021. This year we traveled more than ever before, shot our biggest weddings to date, and celebrated 27 Katie & Alec couples! Not to mention the fact we shot well over 35 engagement sessions, 10 proposals, and countless other sessions from maternity sessions to senior sessions and more.
This year felt like we were living out the prayers we prayed for our business back when we started it in 2014. If you had told us back then what this year would look like, we would never have believed you. It’s genuinely been more than we could ever have asked for or imagined! Looking back on it in retrospect makes us proud and brings us so much joy.
We traveled to Rhode Island, Santa Barbara, Dallas, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia for sessions this year. We also got to shoot at some of our favorite local venues, including the Florentine Building, Oak Meadow Event Center, Park Crest Event Facility, the Barn at Shady Lane, Hamilton Place at Pursell Farms, Vestavia Country Club, Mathews Manor, and Camelot Manor, to name a few. Working with such incredible venues and in such beautiful locations has been a dream.
We wish we had the time and ability to mention every precious couple, every talented vendor, and each photo we love from this year. Believe it or not, this is only a portion of the weddings and sessions we shot this year. We did try our very best to include as many moments as possible, so be prepared; it’s definitely a lengthy post!
Getting to shoot the Pink Figgy outside the iconic Mills House Hotel was just wild! It has us contemplating buying one of these darling cars. What do y’all think!?
Sunstone Winery in sunny Santa Barbara was the most amazing venue! This was a dream day to work on, and it was such an honor to see it published on Inspired By This!
We have to say, 2021 brought us the most incredible details yet, like this incredible cake at Pursell Farms! Our couples have the best tastes!
Traveling to Charleston for Brooklyn & Trevor’s engagement session then to Florida for their wedding was such a blessing! We’re so thankful for couples who trust us as much as they do. They’re truly the sweetest!
We got to shoot our 3rd wedding for the fantastic Lamberth family this year! We love getting to serve them and feel so lucky to know such a wonderful family! Katie & Googz’s wedding day at their home on Lake Martin was lovely beyond words.
We also got to shoot 10 proposals this year! We have loved it and hope to shoot even more in 2022.
Getting to shoot a wedding at the French Farmhouse in Dallas was a bucket list item! Someone, please take us back soon!
We also got the chance to travel to Rhode Island to celebrate Lauren & Benny! We’re so thankful they finally got to have their big celebration! Just look at their venue for photos… WOW!
One of the sweetest moments for us in 2021 was getting to travel to Alys Beach to photograph one of our favorite KA couples and their precious new daughter! We love Hannah & Trey and are so thankful we’ve been able to watch their family grow!
This year we got to shoot at a lot of our favorite venues, mainly the Barn at Shady Lane! We were there more than any other venue this year. Their team is amazing, and we’re so thankful for them!
We even got to shoot Faith & Eli’s graduation photos and wedding photos all in one year! They are a genuine power couple, and we’re so proud of them!
We also got to meet and photograph so many couples who we’ll be getting to celebrate in 2022, like Stephanie & Jordan! We’ll be traveling to New York for their wedding day this August and genuinely can’t wait!
We captured so many moments this year that stopped us in our tracks… We got to witness some of the sweetest first looks with our bride’s family and friends…
Moments full of pure joy…
Moments that made us tear up…
The ones that made us laugh…
The ones no one else saw…
Then, there were some that we’ll never forget. One of those moments was when our groom’s precious grandpa asked for a photo with his wife he lost a while back. The moment we took it, we knew it would forever be a favorite. It wasn’t the best lighting, the most glamorous set up, but man was it perfect.
We also photographed a ton of incredible party moments! We have to say; our couples know how to have a good time!
More than anything, though, our couples are incredible, kind, thoughtful, generous, and full of joy! We’re so thankful for each and every couple who trusted us this year with their most important memories. It’s an honor we will never take for granted.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting our business in 2021 and beyond. We love you all and appreciate all our couples, past and present, and everyone who has supported us this year by following us online, sharing our work, and encouraging us. 2021 will forever hold a special spot in our hearts because of you!
To all the amazing vendors who poured their time, talent, and hearts into these wedding days, thank you! We couldn’t do this all without you. You all make this work so much more fun and meaningful.
We can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for our business and our incredible Katie & Alec couples in 2022. It’s got some big shoes to fill!
We love you all,
Katie & Alec
